A HEPA air purifier filter pad is removable, and will need replacing over time as the dirty particles build up and the air filtering becomes less efficient. Some of the newer models contain a washable pad that can be taken out, cleaned and replaced.
In spite of what some believe, hepa is not a brand of air purifiers, it is a type of filtering system. The name stands for high energy particulate air and was termed this by our energy department. Air hepa purifiers are units that contain this type of filtering system in them. These type of air purifiers can filter up to 99.97% of the particulates in the air down to tiny microscopic size. The government uses air hepa purifiers in the nuclear industry and biomedical use, but they are actually being used in many types of places such as hospitals, aerospace, and computer chips. You can see that using air hepa purifiers in the home could be very useful, and healthier for you.
HEPA purifiers, however, are not air odor cleaners. While the 0.3 microns filter holes ensure the entrapment of many airborne particles, the molecular structure of chemicals and odors means that they will still be able to pass through. Many HEPA manufacturers eliminate this problem by combining air odor cleaner technology in their HEPA units, ensuring for you the best of both worlds.
