Top 10 causes of infertility
Beth Kiley, Author or Peronal path to Pregnancy and Her Baby
.Pelvic inflammatory disease and other STD’s. PID is a sexually transmitted disease that can cause fusing of fallopian tubes if not treated early enough. This causes infertility because the eggs cannot descend to fallopian tubes for fertilization.
.Ovaries abnormalities. Ovaries could be abnormal and unable to produce eggs needed for fertilization.
.History of tubal pregnancy or ectopic pregnancy. This may cause rapture of the fallopian tubes, leading to inability to conceive. Note that fertilization occurs in fallopian tubes and then the fertilized embryo descends down to uterus.
.Cancer. Ovarian cancer almost always caused permanent infertility due to damage of the ovaries.
.Diabetes. Diabetes can cause damage of small veins in many vital organs including the ovaries. Mot of the time, diabetes and hypertension goes together and these patients may become infertile.
.Thick cervical mucous: Thick cervical mucous can prevent sperms from swimming into the fallopian tube. This can be tested and treated even with simple changes in lifestyle and diet.
.Obesity. The largest numbers of infertile women are obese. Losing weight has proven to be a good pathway to pregnancy.
.Hypothyroidism. This causes interference with other vital hormones. If hypothyroidism is treated, fertility tends to return.
.Anorexia. Anorexic or malnourished women tend not to have enough nutrients needed to carry out the development of the egg. That is why many women who are anorexic don’t get monthly periods.
.Endomentriosis and uterine fibroids. These conditions can cause infertility because of inability of the uterus to hold pregnancy. If the uterus has many scarring tissues or the endomentrium is inflamed, implantation cannot occur.
