Tequila has been trying out SmartScoop® Odor Control Litter Box Spray for the past week or so. It’s sprayed directly on the litter and is designed to break down the odors with natural enzymes. Tequila doesn’t seem to care one way or another what’s in her litter box, as long as there’s litter! On the other hand, I want to be sure whatever is in there, doesn’t smell any more than necessary. Thankfully, Tequila has always been a big water drinker, so her urine doesn’t have that awful nasal-piercing smell that a lot of cat urine has. Even so, there is some unavoidable odor. So, although I didn’t notice a huge difference in the room where her box is, I noticed a definite difference when I changed the litter last night. After about a week of using the spray, her litter was noticeably less smelly. In addition to the odor control aspect, the spray has catnip in it. This is supposed to encourage cats to use their littler box. Tequila’s never had a problem with that, so I can’t say for sure if it makes her time in the litter box more enjoyable or not. I’m going to pass the spray bottle off to a friend who has a cat with a serious litter box problem. Hopefully it’ll give him a bit more incentive to use the box rather than the floor around the box!
