You can go to the store, spend countless dollars on products from the shelves, but most of the products you purchase are bad for the environment and are detrimental to our family’s health. You can make your own products at home with natural ingredients and it takes no time at all. Here’s how:

You only need vinegar, borax, hydrogen peroxide and baking soda to make all the natural cleaning products that you need. Vinegar is the base for most natural cleaning products combined with one or more of the ingredients listed above.

You can make an all-purpose cleaner by mixing in a clear spray bottle, equal parts of water and vinegar. This cleans just as well as the expensive store brands. (I only use vinegar and water to clean my home.) Be sure and label all bottles, and store them away from children.

Vinegar is a natural product the cuts grease and dirt. It is also a good disinfectant. Here is a great combination for bathroom cleaning. Add a drop of essential oil to vinegar and it makes a refreshing natural product that cleans windows, mildew in tubs, ceramic tile and the thing we hate the most, soap scum.

Did you know you could make your own air freshener? Combine two cups of hot water, one teaspoon each of vinegar and baking soda. You can add essential oils to mask the smell of the vinegar. Put the ingredients into a spray bottle that has a fine mist and shake to dissolve the baking soda and you are ready to make your natural home fresh and odor free.

Borax is one ingredient that is eco-friendly but it is toxic so you need to be sure and label anything with borax and keep it away from children. Borax works well as a disinfectant. Combine two teaspoons of borax, four tablespoons of vinegar and three cups of hot water.

Hydrogen peroxide makes a great stain remover. It removes fresh blood from clothing. You can pour it into your washing machine while washing whites. Add a cup of hydrogen peroxide to an already water filled machine and it brightens your whites naturally. Hydrogen peroxide works in the same manner as bleach, so be very careful when using it around color fabrics.

Hydrogen peroxide is also good for removing harmful bacteria from counter tops and cutting boards. Only use peroxide after you have pre-washed the surface it will then remove any remaining bacteria. Lemon juice has the same affect.

Now you can see that making your own natural cleaning products not only saves you money, but also keeps harmful chemicals out of your natural home. Most people have the ingredients around their homes anyway, so why not put them to good use. Baking soda, vinegar, borax and hydrogen peroxide are all you need to keep your home clean and germ free. Naturally.
