Hopefully all of you are doing well.
What a day…
I just got back from a full day in the fire and smoke devastated areas of Poway and Rancho Bernardo (San Diego). The losses down there are truly devastating. We have been working down there, removing smoke and soot from contents, and odor and debris from the properties. The work will be going on for the next few months for clean up and over 12-18 months for reconstruction. Businesses and homes of OC and SD have been affected.
For those who don’t realize that Orange County and San Diego homes in the direct or indirect smoke lines (smoke path) will mostly all be covered by Insurance Companies for cleaning and restoration services. A top down cleaning is needed in even the most distant areas from the fires, 5-15 miles. My company, 24 HOUR RESTORATION, is getting calls from all over southern California, and now after the fires we have recently re-instated our FREE ESTIMATES, which I felt were time consuming and laborious in the past. After re-instating our free estimates we have found homes with ash, soot particles, smoke smell and smoke particle pollution in a vast area, stretching from the canyon areas to Irvine in Orange County and Poway to Vista in San Diego. We compiled a list of areas that are affected (see below).
What we can recommend and advise:
•1. Call and use only Licensed and Insurance Approved Restoration Contractors
•2. Always ask for references
•3. Make sure the contractor puts together a complete estimate/bid with recommendations, coverages and includes an inventory for real property, personal property and belongings to be cleaned.
A thorough cleaning should include:
-Top to bottom cleaning or all contents (personal belongings)
-Odor removal with OZONE and Thermal fogging of a high-grade Odor-counteractant
-HEPA vacuuming of all ash, soot, pollution affected areas
- Laundering and drycleaning of clothing and linens
-Cleaning of attic insulation and ventilated spaces
- Pressure washing of home’s structural exterior and windows
- Repair to all fire and smoke materials damaged by the events
-Completed scope detailing cleaning and restoration prepared by restorer for your insurance company
*-* Be proactive and get a free estimate or start the clean up process, doing it yourself or with the help of a professional. Be complete and immediate and you will remove odors(smoke smell) and ash without causing a loss in value to you home or contents.
